Did my power supply damaged any other parts of my computer?

Guys i just bought a new custom computer 2 weeks ago. Today i went somewhere and left my desktop computer turned on. When i came back home my computer was totally shutdown. I pressed the power button but nothing happened not even a single led on my chases was turning on. My power supply is
OKIA 500 Watt. I opened my power supply and checked wih meter if there is any 12 volts in its pins, certainly the result was negative. So i think power supply is blown up.
Q1. Guys i am worried if it damaged my motherboard or other hardware before it blew up.
Q2. If i replace the power supply is there any way to check all my hardware are working fine or not?

This will be my Case:

My main worries are:

is that power supply enough to handle everything while the computer is doing nothing,And is it strong enough to feed the whole computer while i’m formatting movies or playing World of warcraft with settings up high and in 25 man raids etc. Basically, can this powersupply handle my components and intense situations? is there enough PIN slots on the power supply to handle everything(Notice the Graphics cards two slot requirement)? Cause i have no idea how power supply for computers work.

2.) Will this graphics card give me the speed in Frames per second i’m looking for? (Constant 60FPS No matter what’s going on in WoW without the advanced shadows when that anti aslising thing is on. i have no idea how anti asling works, nor how to spell it lol, i just know it stops screen tears and keeps Framerate from going over 60, which is the maximum the human eye can see.)

Keep in mind i will have Advanced shadows Completely Off when playing wow(that takes up the most GPU and CPU and i don’t want it to kill my max FPS)

Please look at all of the links and tell how good i’ve done? please let me know of any compadability issues. Also does anyone know if the motherboard comes with screws so that i can screw it in the case? or is there some other way of putting it in the case without screws, cause i don’t see the site mentioning anything about screws for any of the parts. I’m sure it would come with the screws if they were neccessary…Right?

What is a compatible Hard Drive for this custom Computer System?

I am doing a computer hardware project. The concept is to build a computer when money is not an option, one that you would like to use. While mine is not outrageous it packs a little punch, however, I do not know what or how to choose the hard drive or the DVD/CD ROM drives.
What I have chosen so far is
Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN1-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case – Retail

PSU -COOLER MASTER UCP RS700-AAAAA3 700W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Power Supply – Retail

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

RAM: 8GB Kit (4GBx2), 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300 memory module

CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor – Retail

I just basically want this computer to be fast and up for anything I want to do. I do not want drag when I have several windows open and I want nice graphics and possible gaming (I do not game but want a good grade for versatility). I am also going to install Windows Vista 64 bit so more of the 8 GB of RAM will be recognized.

If anyone can help and give links to a site where you find the hard drive and DVD/CD ROM I will be very grateful. (or at least explain how I can be sure that I am picking a compatible and great drives)

What do you think of this custom build for a photography computer?

5 star rated on Newegg Intel Motherboard
Intel 2.66GHz Quad Processor
GeForce 512mb 8800GT Video Card
2x Western Digital 7200rpm 3.0gbs/s 640GB hard drives
GSkill 4GB 240-pin DDR2 RAM
Pioneer DVD+R 20x disc drive
OCZ 700W power supply

I’ll be using it for Photoshop and school work. Will it this build be very very fast and reliable?

I can make this build for 93.98, that’s including tax
16GB RAM costs over a thousand bucks…as for the graphics card I might actually down grade it cuz I’ve heard a too powerful graphics card can hurt photoshops performance.
To DSM Handyman: thanks for the great answer. I was thinking I could take the old 6600 GeForce out of my old computer and put it in this one. Will I encounter problems with using a used video card? As for buying a cheap computer and upgrading it, I want to build my own from scratch just cause it’ll be fun and I can plan out the parts easier this way. Thanks for the great answers guys.
This is the 640GB WD hard drive.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218

I was thinking instead of getting two 640GBs (over 1TB is pretty ridicoulus) I could just get one of these or higher/lower. 750GB isn’t much more expensive.

I’m looking to build a custom pc what do you think? Think it’ll be ok? Pc is for high end gaming.?

The motherboard: ASUS p5kpro Socket LGA775 FSB 1333/1066 4x240pin with ddr2 1066 standard memory it supports crosfire has 2 pci express 16 slots.
The Processor is The intel core 2 duo e8400 3 GHZ 6MB l2 cache LGA 775 socket 65w FSB 1333mhz 45nm chip.
The graphics card i’m using is the sapphire model 100226L It’s PCI 2.0 x 16 and radeon 3850 I plan on using two of them in crossfire mode, my mother board supports two slots.
The ram i Plan to use is OCZ Platinum 240-pin ddr2 Sdram it’s 2x1gb ddr2 1066 speed cas latency 5 timing 5-5 5-15
The power supply monitor speakers mouse keyboard ect i’m taking from my powerspec 6002 Although I’m doubtful the powersupply or fan will be able to accomodate these new components.
Any useful insight is welcomed as well as suggestions, these are just within my budget, atm and I’d really like some feed back.
Anyone who asks me to quit smoking or go to a computer forum can go F**** themselves thanks in advance :D

My First PC custom Build?

I just read and understand how to build a PC. and after finding all the part i need i wonder if i choose
the right one. Remember that this is a BUDGET build.
_CPU=AMD Athlon II X4 620 2.6GHz (it is a quad core so i decide to choose it)
_Motherboard=Asus M4A785-M (socket AM3 so it should go with the cpu)
_Video Card=Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4650 512MB DDR3(Why did the put DDR3?what does it mean?)
_RAM=NEED Help.the motherboard support DDR2 so do i choose DDR2 or 3 and what about the PIN COUNT? and this is what the motherboard spec say "DDR2 1200(O.C.)/1066/800/667"
_HDD=Seagate Barracuda 320GB 7200rpm SATA 3.0GB/s
_Monitor=Hanns·G HH-181APB Black 18.5
_Case=APEX TX-381-C Black Steel Micro ATX Tower Computer Case(not a very good one but it is acceptable)
_Power Supply=MY MOST CONCENRED Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC 430W(i am thinking of going with this because the Video Card said 400W power supply recommend ) and i know it is cheap and not execllent but i already spend enough on other thing.
_DVD burner=can choose later.
So which one is better Athlon2 X3 2.9GHz or Athlon2 X4 2.6GHz?
some people said the quad core is better then 3 core and it is also more expensive.
