Pins and Needles everywhere?

Hi All,

Last week I went to see my doctor because of a possible pinched nerve in my neck that was giving me shoulder and upper arm pain when my arm was moved away from my body. My doctor had x-rays done, and has since called me back. Here in Canada, no news is good news after a doctor appointment, so i am not concerned, as to my wife informed me that he left a message on our answering machine, saying he wants to see me. I am away in Europe on business and am contemplating going home sooner so, because of this phone message. No sense trying to call my doctor, they will not give results over the phone even if it was good news. Since my last doctor appointment last week, i have developed new symptoms: pins and needle like sensation all over my body. The “prickles” are quick (les then a second), not like the prolonged sensation of a foot that has fallen asleep and my spin is tender in the middle of my back. They are everywhere, and all the time except when I am laying down. Funny enough, my shoulder and arm feel great, no symptoms there at all since the pins and needles started. Although I do get a sour upper back from sitting.

Obviously my main concern is that I have a lung cancer and these are the first signs. I use to smoke, quit 3 years ago. Have had no sporting injuries that I can think of and other then what I described above, I feal great and am very active. 32 year old male with no history of health problems

Can any one shed some light on what the most likely scenario is with regards to the symptoms that I explained above?

Thanks,

Darren

Can mental stress cause loss of feeling in the arms?

Lately I’ve been extremely busy and stressed out with balancing 4 AP classes in high school, an extra curricular sport, SAT prep, and a variety of other obligations. Lately I’ve noticed that in moments of particularly intense stress, I lose all feeling in my arms. It’s kind of like a really dull pins-and-needles numb feeling. It sometimes happens more than once a day. Could this be related to my stress, or could it be something else.

Frequent tingling/pins and needles (pinched nerve?)?!?

I play a lot of sport and have recently been getting pins and needles/tingling in parts of my body… more than normal i think. I’ve heard this can be a sign of a pinched nerve, but then again maybe I’m just getting paranoid. What do people know about pinched nerves and the symptoms? Do you think it there might be something wrong or am I just making a deal out of nothing…
the numbness/tingling/pins and needles coes and goes a bit. it’s not always there. i’ve sometimes been getting pains in my back just when i twist or move awkwardly and stuff. i dont have any shooting pains down my arms or legs though. i have no trouble sitting.

Hell's Bells, Trevor Hoffman is in for the save, Brewers fans and baseball fans are you watching?

Pins and needles here, just 4 away from 600. Very exciting!
For those who have the Brewers/Astros game are you watching?
He did it, and quickly. 1, 2, 3 done. No hits, the crowd was on their feet, Hell’s Bells and the Miller Park was loud and proud.

Perfect for this legend!
Yeah, Rickie’s in the park home run was great! What a way to start the game, what a way to end it.

Pins and Needles In My Right Leg!?

Whenever I lay down a certain way, usually flat on my back, my right leg gets pins and needles.
I went to a special sports medicine doctor and he thought it was Hip Overuse Syndrome, but he said if the sensation didn’t go away, I should get an MRI.

I’m really freaking out because it is still occurring. I’m kind of a hypochondriac, but I keep on thinking that I have some terrible disease, like diabetes or I have clogged arteries. I’m 17 and in shape, although I don’t work out too much, I still exercise a few times a week.

Should I be freaking out?
Wouldn’t I know if I had diabetes or high blood pressure if my doctor gave me a check up recently.

And why is it only in my right leg. It feels like my thigh (location of thigh) is tight sometimes. Is it just overuse?

need a bit of advice from any doctors on pins and needles or anyone with knowledge or experienced it.

been getting pins and needles in my hands and arms when i have been asleep for a few months now to the point where i cant move my fingers. This is happening when i am in a comfortable position and not restricting any blood flow and takes a long time to go after it has woken me. If it was just this i wouldnt worry but i feel tired all the time and have no energy and consider myself fit with an active job before this lack of energy i was playing different sports all the time and was really fit. I also have been getting alot of colds, i hardly drink which is alot less from a few years ago which must have improved my health but smoke about 20 a day double what i smoked a year ago so dont know if that could be the reason. So just wondering if these syptoms suggest anything.

Carpal Tunnel – successfully switch dominant hand?

i have carpal tunnel in my right hand, and i’m not even "old" – uh, don’t ask how it happened…ok, let’s just say it has *everything* to do with having used my computer mouse at an improper angle *constantly* (and i mean *constantly*: for over 6 hours at a time, for about 2 weeks straight….ok, yeah, i was using it as my "joystick", playing an online game, lmao – but dammit, i was getting *really* good at it! ) ;)

that was over 3 months ago…i have used my computer very little since then (and no game playing!)…however, despite having used a splint, my right hand has been basically rendered useless ever since – i have a constant, dull pain running up the full length of my arm, a burning sensation in my wrist, pins and needles sensation in two of my fingers – which also sometimes spasm for some reason, *and*, the wrist is so weak, i can’t lift anything with it…like, not even a coffee cup. :(

and no, i haven’t gone to the dr. yet – why? because i read that there’s very little they can do, except surgery…so, i’m still holding out hope that it will get better. :(

anyway, a few weeks ago, i switched my mouse to left-handed…i’m able to use it (and no, i’m not "ambidextrous" – nor is most anyone else on the planet, btw – people *say* they are, but unless one can write just as easily with one hand as with the other, then no, you’re not ambidextrous – end of rant, lol)…

however, i’m still having trouble adjusting fully – or my brain is, anyway…but the *really* odd part? i’m *left-handed*! – although not ambidextrous, like many lefties, i *am* extremely cross-dominant – which means i "have to" do certain things with my left hand (such as writing and using a utensil), and yet, my right hand wants to do just about *everything* else in life! (such as throwing a softball, bowling ball or dart, batting, playing the guitar, crocheting, and…using a mouse!)…

it’s bugging the carp outta me that i can’t just "adjust" – so, after reading all that nonsense, here’s my question!:

have you successfully changed your dominant hand (not necessarily for writing or eating, but for just about everything else) due to your CTS? meaning, it comes automatically to you now, without thinking about it? if so, how long did it take to switch over? also, if you have any random info/advice you care to share about CTS, i’d really appreciate it. :)

Please help, my knee hurts reaally bad!?

so a year ago i tore my ACL and dislocated my knee cap in my right knee. My doctor said he thinks my knee was healed about 4 monthes ago, but it still really hurts me. the wierdest thing happens to me now also. I was making a music video with my friends, and i did a rockette kick and automatically, i couldnt feel my entire leg. i had pins and needles for about 15 mintues after also. Now every time i kick, wether its a soccer ball or a rockette kick, my knee gets compleatly numb and i cant stand on it. Its like my leg isnt even there when it happens. it is really scary and i wanted to know what you think could be wrong. Thanks a million!

Kait

PS. the reason my doctor didnt operate on my knee before is because i was too young. thxx

Can a rotator cuff injury cause tingling in arm/wrist?

My shoulder has been really stiff and limited for the last month or two and I’m wondering if I could be suffering from a rotator cuff injury (or something similar). I remember throwing a baseball really hard/far for about 10 minutes to some of my students two months ago and it has only gotten worse since then. The symptoms didn’t come on right away, though… it took a couple of weeks. Is that even possible with a rotator cuff injury?

I am also getting tingling (pins and needles) in my wrist and various parts of my arm… similar to what I’d imagine carpal tunnel feeling like. Can a rotator cuff injury cause this?

I need some sort of direction here…

Thanks.

Tingling/Pins and Needles sensation in my hands?!?

A little over a week ago, I noticed my hands becoming extremely sensitive. I thought it was a sunburn, but it wasn’t. Yesterday, after coming home from a soccer game I went to take a shower. I could barely even wash my hair because the water pressure beating on my hands hurt so bad. Also, whenever I wash them after going to the bathroom, I get a pins and needles sensation, kind of like when your hand’s asleep because you may have slept on it funny or whatever. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?
Usually after I wash my hands, the tingling sticks around for a while. And I wake up a lot of times in the middle of the night and my hands are asleep.
