Do You Know Why Wii Game is So Fun For Seniors?

Do You Know Why Wii Game is So Fun For Seniors?

As we all know it, games for the elderly need to be taken up a notch. Seniors can only play so much bingo or participate in sing along songs before they become completely bored with what has become routine. Seniors still need sort and want to be challenged even though they may be older. You will learn here why the Nintendo Wii is such a fantastic alternative if you are looking for games for the elderly that they will really enjoy.

I have a grandmother that lives in a senior home and I see the games and activities they play. And I am here to tell you there is no other activity, aside from family visiting, that gets them so excited as playing with Nintendo’s Wii game.

Sure they play bingo and all the other traditional games, but I see people fall asleep playing these games. I can say for a fact, I have never seen a senior fall asleep playing Wii or even waiting for their turn, for that matter.

What makes the Wii so fun for seniors is that it gets them involved in the game. They physically have to engage in movements with their hands or arms, or even whole body (if they can or want) to play the game. Plus, it is very easy to play.

Physical therapists at senior homes have found this Nintendo Wii game is also a great form of exercise for the elderly.

The Wii game system has been out for a number of years now and why every senior home does not have one I am not sure. It beats every other game hands down.

When purchased new the Wii console comes with a game that features very traditional sports games: tennis, golf, baseball, bowling and boxing.

The game comes with sensor that sits on top of a television. The players hold hand controls. As the hand controllers are moved and waved around the sensor detects that movement. When a game is played the participant simply has to move the controller in a normal motion as if they were really playing the game. These hand movements can be done very simply even by a person in a wheel chair. Or if a person wants they can actually be standing and go completely through the required motion.

The Wii game seniors seem to get the biggest kick out of is bowling. They have their own character that is at a simulated bowling alley. They make the bowling ball throwing motion and watch their ball travel down the lane and knock over pins. The game keeps score, so there are no calculations or math involved. It sounds just like at a real bowling alley because there is also a cheering crowd.

If you are looking for games for the elderly consider checking out the Nintendo Wii as a fun, new alternative.

If your senior has mobility issues there are many tools that will help them in their everyday living. A left recliner chair can be very helpful. Here is where you can find more information on these very helpful pieces of furniture at: Electric Lift Chair. Also, here is where you can go for a great selection in the very popular Acorn Stair Lift.

Golf GPS Bushnell Rangefinder – Cutting Strokes off your Golf Game is Easy with a Rangefinder!

Golf GPS Bushnell Rangefinder – Cutting Strokes off your Golf Game is Easy with a Rangefinder!

When it comes to dropping strokes from your golf game you need to understand some of the easiest ways to do this without having to spend a fortune on lessons and without having to worry about how much time you have to practice and play.  There are other ways that you can make sure your golf scores start to get lower and one way is to use a Bushnell golf rangefinder to help you on the golf course.  This will be very beneficial and you will have the opportunity to become a better golfer.

One of the major benefits of a good rangefinder is that you will be able to get accurate yardages from anywhere on the course.  This is pretty much the most important part of owning a yardage device is that you can get the exact yardage when you need it from anywhere.  This means you will always know how far it is to get to the hole and to any other spot on the course.  When you have this type of tool in your hands you will always have confidence that you are choosing the right shot for the situation and the yardage.

The Bushnell golf rangefinder brand is one of the top choices for a rangefinder because they are the first company to develop pin seeking technology and they have also developed a feature that will give you the yardage of the differenct elevations on the course as well.  This means tha tyou have more of a chance to know exactly how far you need to hit the golf ball in order to put yourself in the position you want to be in for your next shot.  This just breeds confidence and will just make sure your game gets better.

There are many choices in yardage devices and you could choose GPS, but this might not be the right option for you.  You could go with a GPS device, but not all golf courses will be set up for it and there is usually a monthly fee a lot like a cell phone bill.  However, you always know you can get an accurate yardage with a Bushnell golf rangefinder and you do not know that with any of the GPS systems.  Some GPS systems work great and have many courses stored for you to use, but you still might struggle to get exact yardages to the pin, to hazards, and to landing areas.

Anyone up for a baseball survey? Possibly my last one.?

I’ve been busying preparing for college the last few weeks so I haven’t had the opportunity to post one of these for a while. So I thought it would be nice to post a survey one last time.

We’ll start with the fun questions first:

1. When your attending a game at the ballpark, which player’s T-shirt or jersey, do you normally wear?
2. What is prized possession out of your entire memorabilia collection?
3. What was the best food you ate at your team’s ballpark?
4. What is one stadium you’ve never been to that you want to attend in the future?
5. What’s your favorite ballpark that you’ve attended other than your home team?

Now onto some serious questions:

1. On a scale of 1-10, how well has your team been pitching this month?
2. On a scale of 1-10, how well has your team been hitting?
3. Which minor league player do you look forward to watching play when the MLB rosters expand?
4. Which team do you see making a run into the final month?
5. Which team will fall through the cracks?

BQ: For all fans of the contenders, what does your team need to do improve on to stay in the race?

Carrom game is played on a wooden board with four pockets. The board carries a rectangular line around the perimeter that is actually the base line from which players make their shots. The game pieces concerned up with coins, are flicked by the striker, alike to the cue ball, which is shot in pool. The aim of the carrom game is to sink all of your pieces before your challenger manages to sink theirs. Your turn to shoot carries on as long as you keep sinking your pieces.

All combinations of carrom shots add up in the game. Points would be counted at the end of every round. Both skill and good fortune are big elements of this carrom. A game comprises of eight boards or 25 points, either comes first. Once you have learned the rules and experienced enough, you would find the game simple to play and a lot of fun.

How to I add more zip to my pass?

I do not play much football aside from your backyard game from time to time, but my favorite pastime is just getting outside and working on my throwing mechanics. I know my footwork needs to improve and I am constantly working on 1, 3, and 5 step drops. I need to work on moving the pocket… Kind of hard with a pocket to move. Oh well. I step into all my throws. I put a little action from my waist in my throws for a tad more zip and accuracy. It really helps when throwing into the wind. I grip the ball with my fingers, two finger on the laces. Index finger is always the final finger to leave the ball giving it the spiral we all are so amazed by. Also, I do not "choke" the ball with my palm. I have worked to get my release point above head level in case I ever did play behind a pocket. I keep my shoulders as square as possible. I have pin-point accuracy and can throw the ball from multiple platforms. I am just wondering if their is anything else I could to do for some extra zip?

Tips For Improving Your Golf Game

Tips For Improving Your Golf Game

I suppose the most often repeated piece of advice in the whole realm of golf is “keep your eye on the ball.” It is given and accepted as a profound golfing truth (which properly understood it is), but it is necessary to examine what we mean by it and how it fits into the rest of our golfing program.

Very early in my teaching of a new pupil I tell him to keep his eye on the ball, because I know that unless he does so he will never achieve any class as a golfer. But I do not harp on the idea or rub it in – I point out that its importance actually lies less in the sight of the ball than in the reactions which it produces – for instance that it keeps our heads still.

And I put this emphasis on the reactions rather than on the sight of the ball because, to my mind, it is only the bad golfer who actually sees the ball out of his eyes. The good golfer I am convinced feels where the ball is more than sees it.

Now to the ordinary golfer that may seem an absurd statement, or if he does accept it, it may be confusing. So I will try to clarify my meaning.

When I was playing a lot, I was often congratulated, upon the deftness of my short game – and the congratulations were usually followed by the comment, “How long you keep your head down after the ball has gone!” Their idea was obviously that I kept my head down because it enabled me to “keep my eye on the ball.”

But what I was really doing was to keep my head down in order to retain the feel of the swing and to keep my controls going even though the ball had been dispatched. Few of the spectators realized that I often played these shots with my eyes shut; yet I did so.

But when I play with my eyes shut, my senses are wide open. My main concern was to see that my general muscular feel and sense of balance went right through to the end. Not until the follow-through was finished did I look up to see where the ball had gone. I never miss a shot through looking up too quickly; I do sometimes miss one through fear of missing it! The primary fault is not in looking up but in losing the feel of the swing.

Incidentally I have taught many pupils to play beautiful pitch shots without looking at the ball. One very well-known golfer to whom I taught this brought out his “better-half” to watch him “do his circus stuff.” He played some beautiful shots high in the air over gaping bunkers, dropping close around the pin every time and all the while looking me straight in the face. His wife was utterly astonished; then she saw the funny side of it and laughed herself nearly into hysterics!

My view is that the good golfer can only see the ball when his swing is working smoothly, and then it looks as big as a tennis ball! The beginner sees the ball in another way, and because of this, more often than not he misses it. His attention is so concentrated upon seeing the ball that he cannot feel his swing operate. The business of seeing the ball occupies him too exclusively.

Do I mean by that that the beginner needs to learn how to see the ball? That is exactly what I do mean. He must learn not to see the ball to the exclusion of all his other senses. So when I tell a pupil to keep his eye on the ball I at once go on to the work of building up a swing that makes looking at the ball a necessity. Of course every pupil “looks up” badly at first to have the pleasure of seeing where the ball has gone, but this is a primitive stage and soon over.

10 Quick Tips to Improve your Golf Game

10 Quick Tips to Improve your Golf Game

Golf is a sport that attracts such a wide audience. Unlike other sports, golf is a game that one can participate in regardless of age or limits due to physical condition. As a fellow golf professional I instruct golfers of all ages and abilities. In my experience there are many common mistakes that most golfers make. Here is a list of 10 tips that will help improve your game.

1. Grip Pressure. Grip pressure and arm tension is something that all golfers fight. On a scale of 1 to 10, feel like you’re holding the club at a level 3. Golf is hard enough to play relaxed; tighten up and you won’t have a chance.

2. Set Up. So many times students say there is a problem in their swing. 90% of the time the problem is in their set-up. This usually results in poor posture. Make sure that your back is straight to allow for proper trunk rotation.

3. Alignment. Alignment is so important. Make sure that the line of your feet is parallel to your target line. Then make sure your knees, hips and shoulders are parallel to your feet.

4. Tempo and Balance. Tempo and balance go together like peanut butter and jelly. When you have the proper tempo, you create good balance. If you can finish a swing on balance, you have a much higher chance of getting a good result than if you are falling off balance during the swing.

5. Take One Extra Club. Leave your ego at home. Take an extra club and swing it 80%. Your balance will get better and you will start hitting more solid shots.

6. Loosen Up Before The Round. Loosening up allows you to relax and get some of the bad shots out. It also allows you to get familiar with the speed of the greens. Most importantly, it loosens up your body to prevent muscular injury.

7. Make An Aggressive Swing At A Conservative Target. Follow this advice, it really works.

8. Swing The Club; Don’t Hit The Ball. Amateur golfers hit the ball. Swing the club through the ball to a picturesque finish.

9. Don’t Keep Your Head Down. Where is your head when you finish your golf swing? Keep your head up through the swing and let your body turn through to the target.

10. Spend 70% Of Your Practice Within 50 Yards Of The Pin. This is not the fun part of the game to practice but this is the fastest way to cut strokes off your game.

Is there any sport besides cricket where the condition of the ball dictates strategy/play?

I’m sure there must be something. Like tennis they change the balls after so many games. Ten pin Bowlers polish them before they bowl. I cant really think of any sport that is like cricket in this regard.
Rugby, Soccer, Baseball and Basketball are all freely changed or swapped for brand new alternatives. I was looking for a sport where the age of the ball or continued use of it effects the way the game is played. Eg Spinners use the old ball in cricket and very rarely open.

Sorry my question probably wasn’t stated as clearly as I could of.

Guaranteed Basic Golf Swing Tips To Improve Your Game!

Guaranteed Basic Golf Swing Tips To Improve Your Game!

I can remember the first time I ventured out onto a golf course and tried to hit the cover off the ball on the first tee. My memory of that inauspicious debut was a skewed shot which disappeared into the bushes to the right and became just another lost ball statistic. My basic golf swing technique for starters was crappy but more importantly, I didn’t really understand the mechanics of the golf swing.

The end result of that very first game was a large triple figure score and about fifteen golf balls which never saw the light of day again. Oh, I can laugh about it now but if you want to know what epitomised embarrassment I’m here to tell you it was yours truly on that fateful day.

Can you as a novice draw similar comparisons? Well, if you haven’t mastered the basic golf swing yet and you plan on improving your driving, chipping and putting then read the rest of this article.

Physics And The Basic Golf Swing

Before you can even think about using brute strength in you swing you need to understand golf isn’t really a game about power. It’s more timing and that’s why it’s a good idea to examine your clubs closely. Notice how each one is designed just a little differently than the other. The three iron has a more flatter blade than the nine iron. The three iron is designed for hitting the ball longer distances while the nine iron is designed for more up and under.

Getting into the habit of using the appropriate club for the appropriate play will get you forming good basic golf swing habits. It’s a similar story with the driving woods. In most cases, you’ll have a selection to choose from. I have four and my favorite is the fairway wood. It’s designed to be used as the follow up to the tee shot on a long range hole and used correctly, is very effective in getting a clean, crisp shot away without forcing the shot with unnecessary power.

Golf Exercise

Believe it or not, one of the keys to maintaining a good basic golf swing is fitness, or being golf fit if you like. Identifying your golfing muscles is important and if you are not sure, ask an experienced golfer. No, it doesn’t mean you need to spend five days in a gym building up to Mr. Universe levels. Simple golf stretch exercises; some involving use of a club and others just basic body stretches. You’ll be surprised how effective muscle conditioning will help your basic golf swing movement.

Enlisting the services of a short term coach is a great way to learn the basic skills. It’s like building a house; get the foundation right and you have something to build on. A coach will quickly pin point your problem areas and address them quickly. Ask at your favorite clubhouse the next time you’re there.

The basic golf swing in many ways is like a player’s “holy grail.” Once it’s mastered, you can then plan for bigger and better things, including the odd power drive off the tee!

Dean Caporella is a professional broadcaster. If you are a golf novice then you need to read this report on the basic golf swing before you play another shot! Also, read the latest news and reviews in golf swing techniques at:http://www.golfinfoline.com
