what does it mean if higher ranking marine awards you with a coin? I think they’re called challenge coins? It has their rank and United States marine Corps on it.
Is a gunnery Sgt. a high rank?
what do these coins symbolize? If anything? is this something important or just something that marines trade off and on? please look at other extened details
I have been a member of J.R.O.T.C for approximately 3 years going on 4 years. This upcoming 12th grade year I will be the battallion commander and have the rank of L.T Colonel highest rank in the program. I have been awarded numerous awards including distingushed cadet, superior cadet and cadet of the year. I also have been a recipient of 2 challenge coins. I am also captain of the drill team. I was also a former member of the Civil Air Patrol where I attended a leaders ship camp at Stratton Air National Guard Base even flew in a C-130 also I been to Fort Dix for ROTC leadership training. The only negative thing is my grades are not all that good. I have been mostly a ‘B’ student all my life. Welcome to all answers.

i have been looking for a manufacturer of "challenge coins" or "military coins" overseas but can’t find any info. please help, if you have good info, i will reward/pay for your time and info.
i live in america, but i have read the overseas manufactures are ALOT cheaper. most of the ones in the u.s. are suppliers/distributors….aka middle men, i want to go straight to the source.
where can i find out how much navy challenge coins are worth? free websites please…
My recruiter collects challenge coins for his desk at the office and had asked me to pick him up one from Tinker (in MWC,OK) since I go up by that area to visit family. I was wondering if there’s a shop somewhere there on base where I could pick one up or if maybe there’s somewhere nearby I could get one? I have tried looking online for one without any success, but if someone could reccomend a site that carries them for that base that would be awesome too ! =)
I’ve heard several different officers give the same monologue while presenting a challenge coin to a soldier, even though these officers have never met. Is there some sort of standardized or widely accepted speech when presenting a challenge coin or is this just coincidence? If there is, what is it?
This speech was when the commanding officer or other high ranking official was first presenting the challenge coin to an individual, not challenging an existing coin holder or group of coin holders.
The nature of the speech was something along the lines of how and why challenge coins are given in the military, and then some sort of "I present this coin to you…" bit after that.
I was told a guy that claims he had the Ranger status in 1989 that there were no Ranger Challenge coins that year. WHat year were they used?
That link doesnt answer my question! Were the coins used in 89????
